I have just discovered this thanks to someone putting it on their blog(thank you) and i Have to say how Impressive it is. I feel the need to share with everyone because it is that Fraking Awesome! you will not be disappointed. If you liked the CGI in the Ultramarines movie then you will fill your pants over this.

The most amazing part is that it has been done by such a small group of fans in there spare time. I Urge all Warhammer 40,000 fans to watch this.
Like some others have said the voice overs need a bit of work but apart from that is Rocks. The icing on the cake is that Gamesworkshop know about it and like it! so hopefully we wont have another Damnatus incident.

So take a look at the YouTube videos and if you want to subscribe to them the more support the better, i have also subscribed to the Facebook page just because i think it deserves the attention.

Time for a Switch

I have decided to take a break from my 40k armies and start up my Epic armies! why you may ask, well i will tell you. It may have to do with the fact i was on ebay the other day and bought a shit load of epic space marine rhinos. That i needed for my boat load of troops DAMN YOU ebay!!!!!

Or i just fancied a change and i had forgotten how much fun modelling and painting in 6mm really is.

So whats the plan stan? well i have a good size imperial guard army with a load of tanks to paint up but they can wait.

My space Wolves army is not bad but could be a lot better, so i think that's were i will start.

My Agent of the Officio Sabatorum

He is the Marbo model for my Guard army. The story of Broga starts with the Macoxian incident, when as a normal guardsman he was the sole survivor of the destruction of his entire company by the tau in an ambush. He then waged a one man guerilla campaign against the Tau. After his return to the imperial lines, he was recruited into the Officio Sabatorum. he is now attached to the Tiberius 888th for the near future.

I painter him at the same time as my Jungle vets squad, i wanted to put him into a dynamic pose, so i have him running. I choose the stern face as i thought it would best represent an Agent of the Officio Sabatorum. I used an old vox unit as the demo charge and placed in on the base so as to look like it has just been placed down. It then gave me space to put a melta bomb on the model. I bought the Ork shoota with the drum magazine as i think it is what a ripper pistol should look like. The knife on the back finished the model for me, as i got all the things on that i wanted.

I did have fun and games with this lot, these are my Jungle Veteran Squad, lead by the double Hard bastard gunnery Sergeant Tui Cakau ( Sgt Harker )

The majority of the squad are Catachan models, this is because i bought them at a swop meet for cheap. So i needed to fill up the rest of the squad with some left over Cadin models i had spare.

I started this project thinking painting flesh was going to be easy ( i did one once and it turned out OK? HA Ha) but what i forgot, was that was years ago. and i haven't got a lot of experience painted flesh, apart from faces and hands. As i am sure all you painters out there know, painting is a skill and that skill really needs to be practiced.

I made a school boy error when i undercoated these models, i didn't shake the can enough!(stupid) What i got because of it was half my models covered in little round paint balls! not a good start. So i cleaned them up as best i could.

I start with a basecoat of Dwarf flesh on all flesh areas, then a wash of chestnut brown. It don't know what it is but i suck at using washes! the wash should go into the cracks and crevices, but it just sites on top of the model. Maybe i need to add something to the wash? so after many.. many coats of chestnut brown. I was now at a stage to paint a layer of dwarf flesh on the muscle surfaces leaving plenty of definition in the recesses. I then layered a mix of dwarf flesh with elf flesh, on the raised parts of the muscle.I finishing with an extreme highlight of pure elf flesh on the highest part of the muscle.

What i did with the grey parts of the models, was different from my normal three stage highlight. I took my time building up the layered highlights. Starting with a basecoat of codex grey with a few drops of chaos black. Then pure codex grey on all the main areas but leaving enough dark basecoat to define the recesses. I then slowly added more elf grey to the mix to build up the highlight. Sorry no stage by stage pictures.

I am really happy at how the squad has turned out,i think it is a big improvement on my painting skills, i just need to keep it up.

Space Marine Demo = No Painting

OK so i just downloaded the demo for the space marine game and i have to say it is Fantastic. This game is in part why i bought a PS3 in the first place and it has not disappointed me.
I can't wait till September 6th so i can play the full game. The down side is i will not be doing Any painting so my Jungle Vet Squad are the ones to suffer. Sorry guys but....Space Marines ATTACK!!!!!!!!!

Wherefore Art, Thou Kill Team?

Ok so i am still waiting for Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team to be released on the PS3.
I am so jealous of all you lucky people with your xbox 360's. I keep checking the playstation network every day, but no joy. I hope it is out soon??? I know i should be more patient but i don't care, i want it Now!!!!

I am looking forward to completing the first chapter in Kill Team, because it unlocks the Power Sword weapon for multiplayer in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, which i am really looking forward too playing too.

From what i have hear over the web, the studio that produced it will close after it is released. That is sad for those people, hopefully they find other work.

Time will tell.

EPIC 40,000 WARHOUND TITANS

That's right EPIC fans, the Warhound titan has returned. I was on the Forge World website and saw that they not only have returned, but you now get two Warhound Titans instead of one. That's good news, the bad news is they are out of stock.

You may have heard about the "Mystery Box" that is coming out in October from GW. The last time it was SpaceHulk. I have hear rumors about it being Bloodbowl as it is the 25th anniversary or Battlefleet Gothic, both are really great stand alone games. I personally would like to see Adeptus Titanicus seeing titans battle it out would be just so Awesome.

Red Platoon

This is the 1st Squad (Vets) from Red Platoon.
I have magnetized all the Special Weapon troopers so i can switch out the weapons depending on the enemy or points cost.
In the Tiberius 888th, the Veterans are the only unit that is allowed to paint the barrel housing on there lasguns black.
I am thinking i need to highlight my models more, i like a more subtle highlight but it doesn't show up that well in pictures.

Green Platoon

Both from Bravo Company, Green Platoon.

These two Squads i picked up cheap at a second hand model shop in Swindon many moons ago. Spot on models was its name, i wounder if it's still there? It was a great place to find GW bits and bobs, the funny part was it was two doors down the street from the GW store. I have incorporated them Into my Army,as follows.

The first Squad in a Platoon is always the veteran Squad. The Green Platoon of a Company are the exception as they are made up of remnants of other regiments, because of this, they are all considered veteran Squads. Veterans are the only unit that is allowed to paint the barrel housing on there lasguns black, if they choose.

A Catachan jungle vet Squad will be coming soon.........

Conversion Corner #1, Grenade Launcher Handle

I love converting my Models, its fun and by doing it, i feel like i am making them mine. Even if its just moving a hand or weapon about. So i thought i would start documenting one of the Funnest parts of my hobby life.

The first Conversion Corner tutorial will be on how to change the front handle of the Imperial Guard Grenade Launcher. I think the front handle on the Grenade Launcher looks weird , being off to the left side, the same goes for the melta gun and plasma gun. The only thing a side handle looks good on, In my opinion is the Flamer and the M56 Smart Gun from Aliens. OK now that's off my chest on with the tutorial.

OK these are the tools and parts you will need.

I have magnetized both arms to help me show them in place. I recommend dry testing to see if the parts fit before gluing them.

Cut the Grenade Launcher off the right hand,then Cut the left hand that's holding the handle off at the wrist.

Cut the right hand off at the wrist, then you will need to trim the back so it's flat.
Cut the top and bottom off the handle from the left hand.

The right arm:

The best way is a bit tricky,but will help in positioning later on. Drill a hole using a 1/32", 0.79mm drill bit.Into the end of the right arm and the right hand. Cut a length of paper clip about 4mm and put them back together.

You have two options on how to attach the Grenade Launcher back onto the arm.

The first is to leave the Launcher off , until you have attached both the left and right arms to the torso.

The second is to glue the right hand onto the Launcher.

The left arm:

Just like on the right arm, drill a hole in the end of the left arm and the left hand. Then cut a small length from a paper clip about 4mm and put then back together.
This will help you get the right angle, when the Launcher arm is attached.

Remember to dry test the parts first, to see how they fit. Now you can glue the right arm onto the torso and then the left arm.

Now you have a more realistic looking Grenade Launcher trooper.

This is my Red Platoon Command Squad, It has taken me longer than i expected to finish the plasma trooper. As i said in my previous post all my Command units have an Rogue Trader era Guard model leading them. I like having a mix of old and new models i think they work well together.

I wanted the lieutenant to be armed with a Boltgun(a reward for an act of heroism)because it looks cool. I was going to magnetize his left arm but decided not to. I am saving that for my Veterans Sergeants.

Green Platoon Command Squad

This is my Platoon Command Squad from Green Platoon,Its taken me a long time to finally finish the Plasma trooper. I have always put it off for some reason. Like i said in my previous post all my Command units are lead by Rogue Trader Guard Models. I think having a mix of old and new models works well together.

I plan on doing a tutorial on converting the handle of a Grenade Launcher next.

I am a big fan of all the old Rogue Trader Imperial Guard Command Miniatures. IMHO they look so Dam cool with there breast plate Armour and stance. All of my Command units have at least one or more in them.

Rapid Reaction Regiment Part 2

After Colonel Damonx returned to Tiberius from the 2nd war of Armageddon, he was hailed as a Hero and was promoted to General. The war had a profound affect on the General,he know from his experiences at Hades Hive, that the old slow tactics he was trained in were not suited to the fluid nature of some War zones.

The new General campaigned hard to reform the military Forces on Tiberius . He was finally given the task of reorganizing the whole Planetary Defence Forces. He wasted no time, The old Planetary Defense Forces were reorganized into Battle Groups, Incorporating Mechanized infantry, Armored units and Air support. Better suited to respond quickly to any and all treats. Depending on the size of the threat, depends on how many Battle Groups are sent. The next part was how new recruits to the PDF are to be trained plus the ongoing training of the PDF. Making sure that all elements worked in a cohesive manner. The surviving members of the 633th Regiment were placed in positions to pass on their experiences. The Elite of the PDF are formed into the Rapid Reaction Forces. Which receive further training and equipment, It is from these forces that Imperial guard Regiments are formed.

The legacy of General Damonx has prepared Future Imperial guard Regiments to be able to rapidly redeploy with little external support and have the equipment to deal with most threats. This has lead to concerns from the Administratum and the Inquisition about over stocking of war supply's.

Regiment Commanders know that combat losses reduce the effectiveness of a regiment. They are flexible and willing to include units from other regiments. This has had many benefits from new tactics and equipment also created good trade and defence treaties across the Sector.

Rapid Reaction Regiment Part 1

Imperial guard Regiments raised from Tiberius Primaris Are called Rapid Reaction Regiments, this was not always the case, before they followed the more traditional Imperial guard regiment structure. Until the return of Colonel Damonx from the 2nd Armageddon War in 941.M41

Colonel Damonx Was the Commanding officer of the 633th Tiberius Regiment, when the Orks invaded Armageddon. The 633th along with the 573rd Armored Regiment where dispatched to fight the Xeno scum.

After arriving and seeing the scale of the invasion and the inept job Overlord Herman Von Strab was doing of command. Colonel Damonx supported Commissar Yarrick's decision to order the Astropaths to send a signal for aid. Which eared him von strab's displeasure so the 633th were exiled to Hades Hive.

Col Damonx quickly learned that the old tactics that the 633th where trained in would not work in a city fight. A new fluid reactive approach was needed,it was not long before the Col and the 633th were engaged in hit and run raids on the orks.

Soon Captain Thanatos from the 6th Company pioneered the use of Imperial tanks too badly battle damaged to be of any more use in combat,so they were made to look like looted ork tanks, fitted with basic remote controls and filled with home made explosives. Rolling them up to mobs of orks and detonating them. The orks never did catch on, maybe because ork tanks naturally just go Boom!

Despite the desperate rationing of supplies and ammo. Col Damonx and Yarrick know that the city couldn't last much longer, the Iron will of the defenders alone wouldn't be enough. So it was with a heavy heart that they started the evacuation of the city.

Many wounded soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice in holding back the ork attacks, so the rest could be evacuated. Running the gauntlet of anti aircraft fire and fighters trying to intercept them.

Most of the 633th did not survive the war, those that did went back to Tiberius as a Honour guard for the Colonel. The 573nd Armored Regiment were completely destroyed at the battle of Secundus .

Imperial Navy Armsmen.

I have decided to do a squad of Armsmen,ever since i read Execution Hour (Great book)i have thought about bringing them to live, OK to the table top. they will act as a vet squad in my IG army. Lead my the Fleet Sargent ( ) not got a name for him yet. A.K.A "Bastonne".

I am going to match them up with the Master of the Fleet i have planned. The squad will represent a honour guard. I think i am going to use the black and silver body Armour color from the film Gladiator. They are after all from Segmentum Solar.

There was a blog i saw that was going to do an Imperial Navy army, but sadly it didn't happen.I was so hoping it would happen.

Well it has taken more time than i expected but my Squad of Storm Troopers is finished. Life really has a way of getting in the way of me painting my Army's.

I am happy with the way the blue colour has come out, i was getting so sick of my Imperial Guard grey and black, i had to switch it up a bit. For the blue i when with a mix of moody blue and enchanted blue.
highlighting with more and more skull white added. I really enjoyed doing the optics in green, i think they stand out. This is my first time trying to highlight the plasma gun coil in purple, not great but practice makes perfect.

Right...... back to the grey and black!!!

Ultramarine Movie

Well i just got my copy of the Ultramarine movie, after watching it. I like it, yeah i know codex pics made a mess of the delivery day, but it could have been worse. I for one am just Glad they made a Warhammer 40,000 movie.

I can't tell you how many times i went into fantasy mode thinking about them making a 40k movie, with all the sights and sounds we have All made in our heads and out loud. I just hope this is the start of more movies, maybe with some xeno scum getting blasted.

Terrain and movement trays.

I finally managed to finish my two pieces of terrain and my movement trays. the only other terrain i have ever made was for epic 40k , but i plan on making more ( i have a load of drywall compound left)

I have had them lying around from the old Imperial Guard battle force box , i miss the old battle force box. Not only did you get those cool pieces of terrain but you got a leman russ battle tank!

The movement trays have gone through a few colours, but i decided a khaki with a grass and sand mix. I have to put the finishing touches to my Battle bunker, then i will post some pics.

Hello blog world.....Well it has been a long time, a lot has happened some good some bad. I will not bore you with the details. But i have finally got some time on my hands to do some painting and building some terrain.

I was lucky enough to have my Parents come visit me in Canada, and to top it off they gave up a good part of there luggage space to bring from the UK, my Epic Army's: Imperial guard, Space wolves and a Ork kult of Speed, my Titan legion, plus Knights, etc

So it is only fare that i post some pictures of my Epic Space Wolves and Imperial Guard. I have a load more that is not painted yet. It's good to be back and will be posting more stuff soon.

Ratling Sniper Team

I have just finished my little squad of ratling snipers, i am quite happy the way they turned out. I have always been a fan of the abhumans, i am not sure why but i am. I think it's because of the fluff, the idea that they were cut off for millennia by warp storms and evolved to adapt to there surrounding to survive. then to be rediscovered and then Incorporated into the Imperial Guard.

There is something so fun about the idea of a sharp eyed Ratling running around, stealing weapons or booze, and on the other end of the scale, a huge great big stupidly strong, totally loyal Ogryn walking around trying to find a tin opener.

I personally don't like the new ratling models, to me a sniper rifle should have a long barrel not a short stubby one, and why are they looking like wolverine?. To be fair i did see a picture of a ratling with an open bag, and there was an apple and a battenberg cake in it that looked cool.

The new Ogryn models to me look a bit odd, i think it's the faces. I like the old models they looked so much better . I am glad Nork Deddog is back in the codex, i think he is one of the best/funnest characters.

Grey is starting to become a real pain to paint, so i a going to switch it up a bit when i do my next veteran squad.

Forgeworld

I am a big fan of Forgeworld, even if i have not bought a single model from them(yet).
It's great that, time after time they keep come up with really great looking models, at quite a good price. I have hear from a lot of people, there quality is not great, I would like to see them improve there quality control issues but in a way that's part of there charm.

I would like it if they had a U.S.A or Canadian operation, purely from a selfish point of view it's true, but also i think they could have the potential to make more money, as a lot more people could afford the models and postage if they were produced this side of the pond. I believe that's what discourages a lot of people from buying them, as you are hit with UK price for the model plus postage. as much as we like the models the exchange rate conversion is the thing that kills the idea.
That's why i have seen an increase in people buying models from Old Crow etc, anyway i hope the Tech-Priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus keep up the good work

I like the Tauros Venator, but the Tauros Assult Vehicle is way better looking IMO. Time to start saving!

Work in Slow Progress

I really need to just focus on one and get on with it. Print on Demand

I am glad Black Library have finally a working website, and decided to start Print on Demand, i have recently got back into reading 40k books, i can remember the first 40k book i read was Ian Watsons Inquisitor (1990) - reissued as Draco. I think reading these books is a great way to add fluff and expand the hobby and Its also a great way for me to kill time to and from work.

In the last year i have moved from Swindon (UK) to Toronto (Canada) i was a bit worried on how i would be able to keep up on my reading, would i have to spend a ton of money and have to mail stuff in. But i should not have feared because most good book retailers over here stock black library stuff. The Toronto public library has an excellent selection of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 books, i am slowly but surely working my way though them.

I have just ordered a copy of The Gothic War, as i had read Execution hour, but couldn't find a copy of Shadowpoint for love nor money. I am so looking Forward to seeing how Captain Leoten Semper and the crew of the Imperial Warship Macharius get on.

There maybe some people out there that are a bit annoyed at black library for starting Print on Demand, as they have spent a lot of money buying books that they thought were out of print. I was one of you, but then i realised you actually have a 1st or 2nd edition copy, which is still rare! not just a reprint so your copy is a little bit more special so everyone is a winner.

Primaris Psyker

I have had this psyker lying around for years, so i thought it was high time it got painted. I am a fan of the colour purple, and think that psykers should have at least some part of them in this colour. To me it is a powerful, rich and regal colour, Which is what i think psykers are in 40K.

I have not yet had a chance to use one on the battlefield in 5Th edition, i am looking forward to when i do. I do like the new Primaris Psyker, it has a dynamic purposeful look to it.

Tiberius Primarius is unusual in that it is now a progressive Planet. With an elected Lord Governor, as like most Imperial planets they have had there far share of civil strife, crime and xeno raids. There is for the most part widespread stability, mainly due to a good education system. Higher learning is well respected.

Mining of a dense asteroid belt is the main Industry and employer on the Planet. It has a tech level of Alfa thanks to good Trade and defence pacts with the Adeptus Machanicus at Phaeton. There has been confrontation in the past between mining company's and the Adeptus Mechanicus on the usage of non sanctioned equipment.

The Planetary Defence Force (PDF) are well trained and Equipped. They are formed into Battle groups. The planet Tahnel has a military exchange program with Tiberius Primarius, this has lead to having a well trained PDF Ocean Navy.
The Elite of the PDF are selected for the Rapid Reaction Force(RRF)this is where the Imperial Guard Regiments are formed from.

I just got my copy of Aliens v Predator and i love it! Finally they have made a game that is as true to the movies as we wanted. With all the sights and sounds we have come to know and love.It's almost like having three games in one,as all three species are playable. I tell you when it's dark and the motion tracker starts pinging you can't help feeling scared.

I am old enough to remember when Aliens first came out (1986) and just how Cool it was. I belive Aliens is one of the best Sci Fi movies ever made.
It has Everything a Great Movie should have, Good story, Great Acting, Action and Suspence, plus fantastic Special Effects. It won Two Oscars for Sound and Visual Effects, and was Nominated for 5 more. When Special Edition came out that was the icing on the cake.
Such a shame they wasted the opportunity to make some really great sequuels, but all is not lost, there are a lot of really good aliens and Predator books out there.

A little Something for my Wife.

Well it's St. Valentine's Day again, I had been thinking the last few weeks what to get my Lovely Wife. Then it hit me! i remembered her saying that most woman just want something that lets them know how much you think about them and care, like a homemade card.
I know i had a blister pack of three Sisters of battle somewhere,So after i found them, i set to work painting one of "my little soldier men" for her.

She really likes it and it is now standing guard at her work desk.

I have just figured out why it takes me so long to do my miniatures. When i finally stop Procrastinating and sit down to do them, i then always have a great idea for a new Conversion.

Off i go to hunt for the bitz, This new Conversion then jumps to the top of the queue, and all the other ones get put to the side. So i am going to break this cycle, and finish what i started!

I am back and have a new camera! (thanks to the boxing day sales). I can finally show you pictures of the movement trays I have got for my Guard Army.

I got them from www.terrainwarehouse.co.uk they were shipped really quickly and they are quite cheap. These are a great alternative to the War of The Ring Infantry Movement Trays that only have four holes.

Well Hello all, I am slowly but surely getting used to this blogging world. I am more a painter than a player but i am planning on changing that.

I have a nice mix of Rogue Trader and new style IG miniatures, i think they work well together, and add a much needed bit of variety.

After i come back from holiday i am going to go full force on getting my Army finished.
