Epic scale W.I.P Hunter.

Just like my post about not having any Artillery in my Space Wolves or Mentor Legion armies. I also didn't have any anti aircraft weapons so as luck would have it i had done a model swap about a year ago and remembered that there was some hunter turrets included.

So just like i did with my whirlwinds i wanted to "Share" them with both my Wolves and Mentor armies. The best way to do this was to magnatize the turrets and all the rhinos.

To add a bit more detail on my Wolves ones i cut away the left side bolter turret and replaced it with a radar dish. This was made by cutting a thin piece of plastic tube and drilling a hole and gluing it in. The dish is cut from an old rough riders base, then cut in half and angled inwards.

Epic scale W.I.P whirlwinds.

I have taken a good long look at my Epic Space Wolves and Mentor Legion armies and came to a surprising realization i had No Artillery! that is nuts. Especially as i have a metric ton for my Epic Imperial guard army lol.

So i set out to convert some, i know i could have gotten some from ebay or some proxy's from Shapeway but the cost and well to put it simply, i like converting stuff. Ok i know what some will say,  if i factor in the cost of original BFG turrets and the time to convert it would be cheaper to buy some turrets. The thing is i don't care, i think they look cooler and that is what really matters.

Epic Wolf Guard with Land Raiders

I have finally gotten round to taking some pictures of these two finished units together. I have been trying out some new ways to take pictures of my miniatures with the help from my Wife. She is an amazing photographer Carol poitras photography  she has helped me make my "little men" look a lot better.

Now i know that most people that play games of Epic normally don't take Terminators and Land raiders together. I just find that they are both such iconic units that they should be at least pictured together.

I will be doing a post all about taking pictures of your miniatures, with my [Wife's] camera, set up etc. I am still very new to all this techno photo stuff, so bar with me and maybe we can learn as we go.

Epic scale Space Wolves Landraiders finished.

So i have finished my Epic scale Space Wolves Landraiders. I have to say, i am happy with the way they have turned out.

I converted the Lascannons on two of them, so they are straight with the hull. I really think they look a lot better than the original position. I drilled out the barrels as i think it looks more realistic than just painting them with on.

I added a long fang decal from the Epic space wolf set to the doors of each raider to add a bit more detail. I believe it finishes it off nicely. I painted optics onto the front view ports as well.

Epic scale Wolf Guard Terminators.

I have finally managed to finish up one of my many many many ongoing projects. I am really happy with the way they have turned out. I wanted to have as much detail as i could on them because well they are the best of the best.

The squad leader or battle leader i think it is called (not a expert) needed a close combat weapon but i was undecided about going with a sword or a battle axe. So i decided on neither! i went with a power maul because i think they are cool. It was made out of a 40k Space Marine combat knife handle cut down, the eagle shape really looks neat.

I cut a few left arms and repositioned them so as to give a bit of variety. The rest of the detail was  painted on, like the knee pads and storm bolters. The Crux Terminatus was hard to do as i wanted it to look good but not have to take too long to do all twenty. I will eventually do a post soon with the finished Wolf Guard Land raiders.

W.I.P Epic scale Wolf Guard Terminators

This is my first ever Epic scale Terminator unit, I know hard to believe eh. I don't know why i have never gotten round to building this unit before but there you have it. Better late than never.

So I wanted to show the assault cannons on the models so I got some 0.88 mm size plastic tubing and put it on. After looking at it for some time half finished on my project desk, i didn't like the look of the placement of the tubing. So I cut in off and repositioned lower so it looks more like the 28mm one. I think it looks a lot better.

More to come..........

W.I.P Space Wolves Landraiders.

You would think with me having so many ( 50+ ) of the old Epic Mk1 Landraiders I should have more painted up. The fact is i just never got round to it. I always had other units i wanted to finish first.

Well that is about to change, this first lot, will be done soon and then i have plans on starting a second unit of Mk1's. just after i finish the other two projects i have half done then. Lol that is so like me, start something then get bored and start another.

Space Wolves Thunderhawk

This is my Epic Mk1 Thunderhawk also know as the thunderbrick.  I have to say i have a soft spot for the Mk1, i don't really know why, i just do. To look at it, it is not a very attractive model, and aerodynamically it sucks.  Maybe that's it, it is so ugly that you can't help but like it.

I find it funny when i am looking at the storm eagle and storm raven that there is more than a passing resemblance with the good old MK1.
I was luck when i bought some Epic stuff from ebay the cool seller not only sent my item but also some imperial dreadnought claws and weapons! thank you very much.

The Mk1 is the only epic model i can think off that didn't have a cockpit. I never understood that.
maybe it was meant to be some kind of drone or something? anyway i made it one with some greenstuff. Not bad really as it was my first attempt at using greenstuff other than as filler.

Painting it was a lot of fun, i used blue grey as a base coat, then i mixed space wolve grey in as the first stage highlight them pure space wolve grey as the final highlight on all raised areas. I tried for the first time something a bit different and had a go at engine glow. I think it turned out ok but it would have looked a lot better if it was red or orange. "Next time Gadget"
